Introduction
Dynamometry is the measurement of force or power. Isokinetic dynamometers are used to measure maximum torques and angular velocities at various joints. We can measure the peak concentric and eccentric torque values throughout the whole range of movement for a given angular velocity.
Method
Isokinetic dynamometers, such as Biodex, measure the force of a muscle by controlling the angular velocity of a movement while applying constant resistance. Multiple contractions of target muscles using maximal effort are required to acquire the proper data.
