
Samsung Medical Center was founded on November 9,
1994 under the philosophy to ‘contribute to improving
health of the nation through the best medical service,
the advanced medical research and development of outstanding
medical personnel’. Comprised of 40
departments, 8 special centers and over 110 special clinics, SMC is a tertiary hospital with 1,951 sickbeds where approximately 6,500 staffs including over 1,200 doctors and 2,000 nurses are working.
Equipped with the advanced medical service infrastructures, such as the outstanding medical staff, Samsung medical information system (SMIS), picture archiving communication system (PACS), clinical pathology automation system and logistics automation system, SMC is leading the new hospital culture in Korea by being the best hospital in high-tech medical services and providing the patient-centered medical services in the genuine sense.
Having commenced service on January 2, 2008, Samsung Cancer Center consists of 11 aboveground and 8 underground levels. With 652 sickbeds (40 in ICU, 36 in Aseptic Unit and 67 in Outpatient Center) and 20 operating theaters, Samsung Cancer Center is of the largest scale in Asia that specializes in the treatment of cancer. Samsung Cancer Center aims to provide comprehensive treatment for the cancer patients.
