Palliative Treatment Center
Palliative treatment aims to improve the quality of life of patients and their families until the very last moment of the patients’ life by controlling symptoms and pains suffered by patients who do not react to treatments of which the purpose is complete cure. It also provides holistic therapy to solve a variety of psychological, social and spiritual problems.
The following patients can receive palliative treatment through a referral by their physicians.
- Incurable cancer patients expected to live only several more months for whom active cancer treatment is no longer helpful and whose overall conditions are worsening
- Terminal patients suffering from chronic diseases of whom there is no possibility of recovery from the disease and who are in a phase where their condition is worsening
- Patients, although expected to live more than several months, who require palliation of pain and symptoms
SMC’s Palliative Treatment Center provides outpatient, inpatient and emergency treatments on the basis of the home treatment so that patients can receive continuous treatment through phone consultations whenever desired.
Physicians/ home nurses/ nutritionists/ social service workers/ religious workers/ voluntary service workers work in cooperation to provide the comprehensive service. We offer medical services that are individualized to suit the patient’s conditions and the area of residence. If living near the hospital, patients can also have our physicians visit them at their own homes.
