Stomach Cancer Center
Staffed with stomach cancer experts from each clinical department, our Stomach Cancer Center is providing prompt and composite service using a variety of techniques. These include services such as endoscopic mucosal resection, laparoscopic gastrectomy, new chemotherapy and radiation therapy in addition to the existing surgical techniques.
Together with a coordinator, Stomach Cancer Center is organized with the medical staff in charge of stomach cancer examination and treatment from the Department of Surgery, Department of Gastroenterology, Department of Hematology and Oncology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiation and Department of Pathology. The medical staff cooperate with each other in treating patients by fulfilling their roles in relation to diagnosis and treatment of stomach cancer. In addition, they discuss important matters within the center and exchange results of activities and studies conducted per each department. In order to assist in the development of stomach cancer treatments, our team regularly holds meetings to discuss the findings in endoscopic and surgical operations as well as results of imaging and pathological examinations. The Stomach Cancer Center routinely organizes presentations for stomach cancer patients to solve the difficulties they experience and to answer their questions. In addition, we are publishing and distributing stomach cancer information booklets so that they can answer some of the questions asked by stomach cancer patients and to help them sort out any confusing information.
We are also running an Internet community for stomach cancer patients through which patients can build interest in their own condition and improve the quality of life. Also, in order to prepare objective indices on the quality of life of the cancer patients, we are offering interviews and conducting studies on controlling the quality of life and symptoms after surgery.
