The role of the Department of Laboratory Medicine is to provide counsel on the results of different diagnostic laboratory tests and offer new approaches and findings to our colleagues. We carry out tests of considerable extent and diversity including blood, urine, cerebrofever fluid and body fluid tests. We also separate cancer cells and a variety of microorganisms such as bacteria, virus and fungus to study their characteristics and help enhance patient care. Our Blood Bank provides blood to all medical specialties in need of transfusion and is responsible for relevant tests, blood donation, component blood donation and therapeutic apheresis. Our staff conducts a wide range of genetic studies to attain useful information for treatment and prevention of many diseases, and offers clinical consultation. Our department ensures that all scientific advances are made available for better management of patients and diagnosis of diseases.
