Department of Pediatrics
The pediatric services at SMC comprise of the pediatric/adolescent patient care area, an education area and a research laboratory area. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit are the hallmark of our world-class intensive care services that place paramount importance on a multidisciplinary approach. Our physicians offer differentiated, exceptional care and services with two daily rounds to better cater to the needs of pediatric patients. We are committed to remaining on the leading edge by adopting the latest techniques, expanding the network with community practitioners and computerizing medical information. We strive to rank ourselves among the world’s best hospitals by focusing our research on molecular biology and publishing more than 20 papers in prestigious medical journals. We also stage charity fairs and events to financially support less privileged infants and children with incurable diseases, with the help of many voluntarily organized parent groups within our department such as the Organization of Parents of Children with Respiratory Difficulty, the Association of Parents with MPS Children and the True Love Organization consisting parents of pediatric cancer patients. We stay involved in not only clinical practices but also a higher level of promotion for children’s health and well-being.
