The Department is organized into 7 divisions that specialize in upper gastrointestinal tract, liver/gall bladder/pancreas, large intestines/anus, breast endocrinology, transplant, blood vessels and pediatric surgery. Each division focuses on improvement of patient care and research, contributing to the development of both the surgical field as well as the entire medical community. We relentlessly seek to achieve clinical excellence, and our efforts are well recognized throughout the nation. Our surgeons perform an average of 30 major surgeries daily while at the same time devoting themselves to continuous studies of the latest surgical techniques (e.g. endoscopic treatment of stomach/liver/biliary tract diseases, sophisticated surgical treatment of the liver/biliary tract/pancreatic diseases, endoscopic large intestinal cancer surgery, breast conservation surgery using sentinel lymph node biopsy, endoscopic adrenalectomy and thyroidectomy, congenital arteriovenous malformation treatment and the nation’s first small intestinal/homologous pancreatic islet transplants) while running multidisciplinary training programs to foster top-notch physicians.
