The Heart Vascular and Stroke Institute Receives the Grand Prize for the 2020 Medical Korea Awards in the General Hospital Sector
The Heart Vascular and Stroke Institute receives the Grand Prize for the 2020 Medical Korea Awards in the general hospital sector.
The Heart Vascular and Stroke Institute was established in March 2014 and introduced the first integrated treatment model in South Korea that combines specialized departments in heart, stroke, and vascular diseases. The institute was recognized as a true patient-centered system as it promoted multidisciplinary treatment to prevent and treat diseases followed by post-treatment management all in one location.
In the case of vascular diseases, multidisciplinary treatment not only reduced patients’ inconvenience for having to visit several times, but also drastically shortened the time required to diagnose and establish a treatment plan. In addition, a team of specialists from each department within the Heart Vascular and Stroke Institute, the Department of Emergency Medicine, and the Department of Critical Care Medicine are on-call to respond to emergency patients at all times. Moreover, the institute was highly recognized for leading in medical advances by being awarded as the Center of Excellence for 3rd Generation HVAD, accredited as an educational institution certified by the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society, etc.
Furthermore, the Heart Vascular and Stroke Institute was the first in Korea to publish the Heart Vascular and Stroke Institute Quality Index Report in 2017 and has since been disclosing the institute's major performances, such as mortality and reoperation rate, as an objective indicator which showcases the institute’s focus on delivering quality-oriented medical care.
