In Patient

Admission
 

If the admission was scheduled in advance, the IHS staff will inform you when you need to arrive at the hospital on the day of admission. When you arrive at the hospital, please check in at the IHS. If you must cancel or delay your admission, please contact us as soon as possible.

Each room is equipped with bed and nurse call, television, refrigerator and separate bathroom. Rooms are assigned depending on availability and your medical needs. If you would like a certain type of room, please let us know in advance. If the type of room you requested is not available on admission, we will make every effort to provide one as soon as possible.
Telephones are installed in each room. Please press the button "#" on the phone before making outside calls. Pay phones are also located in the patient’s lounge for long distance calls.
TV, pay phone, vending machine, drinking fountain will be found in the lounge to be used at your convenience.
For your safety please keep your siderails up at all times to prevent unnecessary  accidents.
Smoking is prohibited within the entire hospital building. Please smoke in the designated areas outside the hospital.
Convenient facilities such as gift shop, beauty shop, 24 hour convenient store, bank, and restaurants (Korean) are located on B1 of the main building and the Cancer Center.

What to bring

To make yourself as comfortable as possible, we suggest bringing the following personal items:
Clothing : nightgown, robe and slippers. Each patient is provided a closet for accommodation of a limited quantity of personal articles. Please bring only those items necessary during your stay.
Toiletries : toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, towels, etc.
Personal Items : eyeglasses, dentures and hearing aids.
A small amount of cash.
We provide an ATM on the premises, next to Security on the B1. Please do not bring valuables, such as large sums of money, jewelry etc.
An admission kit is provided at a cost by IHS staff at the time of admission for those who do not have their personal items.
Items in the admission kit include a pair of slippers, a box of tissues, drinking bottle, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shaver, shaving cream, comb, a bottle of shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and a small towel.

FOR EXPECTING MOTHERS

The following is a guideline for those who are preparing for admission. It might be easier to consider packing an overnight bag ahead of time. The following is a list to give you an idea of what kind of items you might consider packing for your stay at the hospital in addition to other personal items.

FOR MOTHER:

1 or 2 extra pillows
Cushion
Warm cotton socks
Loose clothes to wear after birth
Slippers (comfortable shoes)
Personal toiletries (including hairbrush)
Nursing bra
Sanitary pads
Hairclip/ ponytail holder for labor
Drinking cup
Small towel
Cassette tapes/ CD of relaxing music and player (optional)

FOR HUSBAND OR GUARDIAN:

Personal toiletries (including towel)
Change of clothes
Extra blanket
Pillow(s)

FOR BABY (PLEASE BRING ON THE DAY OF DISCHARGE):

Gown and undershirts
Clothes (sleeper/hat) to wear home
Receiving blanket(s)
Outer blanket
Baby milk bottle (optional for those who live far away)

Meal Time

Breakfast : 7:30 am    Lunch : 12:30 pm  Dinner : 6:00 pm

You can choose from a selection of meals from the menu attached one meal ahead. If you would like to request for an item not listed on the menu, please let us know and we will do our best to obtain it for you.
If you would like to speak with our nutritionist concerning your diet, please contact the International Health Services.
Only breakfast will be served on the day of discharge. If you wish to have lunch, please let the nurses know ahead of time.  

Food Service for Companion

Caregivers/family members of patients can request to have their meals served at a cost. Please let the nurses know in advance.

Visiting hours

Visitors are welcome at the Samsung Seoul Hospital. To promote the comfort of all our patients, guests are asked to keep their visit brief. If you have questions about the visiting policies or hours, please check with the IHS staff.

Children under the age of 6 are not permitted in patient areas without special authorization. Please check at the nursing station before bringing children to inpatient unit.

Discharge

Discharges are generally expected at around 11:00 a.m. If you need to leave the hospital earlier or later than the scheduled time, please let your nurse know ahead of time as the process of discharge can take some time.
Discharge Checklist
  1. Arrange someone to pick you up from the hospital on the day of discharge if necessary.
  2. Review any written instructions from your doctor or nurse and be sure to ask any questions you may have about medications, activities, and diet after discharge.
  3. If your doctor has given you medications to take at home, be sure you know what the medications are and what they are for.
  4. Make sure you have scheduled any follow-up appointments, tests, or care .you may need.
  5. Pack everything you brought with you including any of your own medications.
     

Parking Information

Is Free Parking Available?

Visitors requesting appointments can park at no charge for 2 hours, outpatients and patients treated on an outpatient basis for 8 hours, patients and families on the day of admission or discharge for 1 exit, and an emergency visit for 24 hours. You do not need to get your ticket validated. Simply show your patient card or receipt to the parking attendant on your way out.

What Are the Rates?

Monday through Friday, Saturday morning (until 12:00 p.m.)

The first 30 minutes are free and thereafter 500 won per 10 minutes.

Saturday afternoon (past 12:00 p.m.), holidays

The first 3 hours are free and thereafter 500 won per 10 minutes.

Nighttime (10:00 P.m.~8:00 a.m.)

The first 30 minutes are free, and 1,000 won until 8:00a.m.

Is a Long-stay Parking Discount Avaliable?

You must purchase the discount parking pass (10,000 won for 24 hours) at Parking Service on the 1st basement floor of our underground garage within 3 hours of entrance.

How Do I Get My Parking Fee Refunded?

Show your hospital receipt or patient card with the parking receipt at Parking Services on the 1st basement floor of our underground garage.

What Do I Do When Having Trouble Getting My Vehicle Out Due to Other Parked Cars?

Call 3410-0133 for Parking Services or 3410-0121 for S1.
