To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, the International Healthcare Center held a special commemorative event on March 6.

International Women’s Day is a global observance that celebrates women’s social, economic, and cultural achievements while raising awareness of the importance of gender equality. In recognition of the occasion, the International Healthcare Center presented roses, symbolizing the dignity of women, along with chocolates offering a touch of comfort, to female patients and visitors to the Center, delivering messages of encouragement and wishes for a speedy recovery.

One international patient who participated in the event shared, “Receiving flowers unexpectedly at the hospital truly lifted my spirits, and it was especially meaningful to be able to share in the significance of Women’s Day.”

On the same day, the International Healthcare Center and the Gangnam-gu Medical Center also jointly hosted a special event titled “A Special Meeting Between Mei, the Gangnam-gu Office Mascot, and a Pediatric Patient” at the International Healthcare Center. Mei spent meaningful time with a six-year-old boy from Kazakhstan, who has been bravely fighting Wilms tumor since September 2025 while undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, as well as with his family. During the event, Mei offered words of encouragement and small gifts to help the child and his family continue the treatment journey with courage and hope, and joined them for commemorative photographs.

The child’s guardian said, “Thanks to the thoughtful care and encouragement from the International Healthcare Center and Gangnam-gu Medical Center, today gave us a chance to forget, even briefly, the difficult and painful times we have been going through and simply smile. It was a tremendous source of strength for us.”

Jae Joon Lee, Director of the International Healthcare Center, said, “We hope this event gave patients visiting from around the world a moment to smile amid their treatment journey. We will continue to do our utmost to foster a care environment in which every patient is respected, regardless of nationality or cultural background.”
