Tips & Information for you

Here are essential tips and information to help you make the most of your health screening.
Stay informed every step of the way.

Precautions for MRI scans

If you have claustrophobia, metal implants, or have undergone metal-related procedures, please inform us in advance as this may affect your MRI exam.

Remove all metal accessories such as tooth gems, piercings, magnetic nails, bracelets, and rings. Spray-on hair products and continuous glucose monitors should not be used or worn during your MRI.

Precautions for contrast CT scans

Contrast medium is used during abdomen and pelvis CT scans to help diagnose conditions accurately. While it is generally safe, it may cause reactions such as itching, nausea, vomiting, or breathing difficulty. In rare cases, severe reactions like shock, heart problems, or nephrogenic systemic fibrosis may occur.

Please let us know if you have ever had an allergic reaction to contrast agents or other medications, or if you are currently taking asthma medication.

Drink plenty of water after your scan to help flush the contrast from your body.

Are endoscopy instruments properly sterilized?

Yes. We strictly follow the cleaning and disinfection guidelines of the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Our center has been certified as an Excellent Endoscopy Unit for its high standards in infection control, equipment sterilization, and procedure safety.

In addition, our infection control team routinely monitors and audits sterilization practices.

How should I prepare my diet before a colonoscopy?

Proper bowel cleansing is essential for an accurate colonoscopy. Please follow all dietary restrictions and take your prescribed bowel prep medication exactly as instructed.

(Refer to the attached guide or photos for detailed instructions.)

What should I know before having a sedation endoscopy?

For your safety, you must have a responsible adult (family member or friend) accompany you home after the exam, even if you use a taxi or public transportation.

You are not allowed to drive yourself or leave the center alone after sedation. If you arrive without an escort, the sedation exam will be canceled.

If you are 75 years or older, our specialist will check your condition on the day of your screening to decide if sedation is safe for you. Depending on your health, your exam may need to be performed without sedation.

What medication is used for sedation endoscopy?

We use midazolam, a sedative given through an IV to help you relax and sleep during the procedure. The dosage is carefully adjusted based on your age and health condition. In rare cases, even the maximum safe dose may not cause full sleep, but we do not increase the dose beyond safe limits. Please note that propofol is not used at our screening center.

Do I need to fast even if I am not having an endoscopy?

Yes. Fasting is still required because other tests, such as blood work and abdominal ultrasound, also need an empty stomach. Do not eat or drink anything - including water, gum, or smoking - for at least 10 hours before your appointment.

How do I collect a stool sample for my test?

White-cap container: Use the small spoon inside the container to collect about 5 grams (about the size of a kidney bean).

Green-cap container: Twist off the green cap. Use the attached stick to poke 5-6 different areas of the stool so the grooves on the stick tip are filled. Place the stick back in the container, close the cap tightly, and shake the container vigorously up and down.
