Cancer Data & Registry
Our Team Develops Cancer Registries and a Cancer Big Data Platform
The Cancer Data & Registry Team collects data from every stage of cancer care and ensures data quality to improve patient outcomes and support cancer research.
Our team optimizes the clinical data collection environment for efficient and accurate data acquisition, develops cancer registries, conducts systematic quality control to maintain data integrity, and facilitates data access to promote collaborative research.
We build cancer registries for all cancer types and operate a big data platform. To ensure highly accurate cancer data, we have implemented a prospective, automated system that collects information from every step of the patient care workflow-from the first hospital visit to the end of treatment and follow-up.
High-Quality Real-World Data Collection
The Cancer Registry is designed to collect prospective, accurate, real-world clinical data. To make this complex initiative possible, we have introduced the following processes and systems:
We introduced preliminary patient history check-up process by the specialized nurses to accurately and systematically collect each cancer patient's basic medical history, including past and current illness record, medical prescription lists, family history, and current symptoms and signs, etc. This process will be given to all new cancer patients before clinic.
We structured and standardized the electronic medical record (EMR) forms for each cancer type for doctors to use them without increasing the work-load and without missing the valuable clinical data at the same time.
We also developed structuralized report forms for many diagnostic tests and pathologic reports. Through these forms, we can collect highly qualified and digitalized test and pathologic results.
We established cancer-type specific registry in clinical data warehouse (CDW) and it is updated every day automatically.
We developed various feedback and quality control programs to continuously enhance the data accuracy, including publishing newsletters for each cancer types and regular meetings with clinicians.
Clinician-Engaged Cancer Data Operations
The team works closely with clinicians in cancer centers throughout the data collection, management, and quality assurance processes.
By integrating data acquisition into routine clinical workflows, we minimize additional workload while ensuring accuracy. Data quality is continuously monitored, and regular discussions with clinical departments lead to ongoing improvements. This collaborative model supports the development of high-quality cancer registries that enhance both clinical decision-making and research.
