Hematologic Malignancy Center
Compassionate, Expert Care for Blood Cancers
The Hematologic Malignancy Center at Samsung Medical Center provides advanced, multidisciplinary care for patients with complex and rare blood disorders, including acute and chronic leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, light chain amyloidosis, aplastic anemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). We are committed to delivering accurate diagnoses and evidence-based treatments through collaboration across specialties. We actively participate in multinational clinical trials-including early-phase studies-to offer patients access to the latest investigational therapies that may not yet be available in Korea.
Multidisciplinary Approach for Rare and Complex Diseases
To ensure the best outcomes for patients with hematologic malignancies, we take a team-based approach involving specialists from laboratory medicine, pathology, radiology, and nuclear medicine. In close collaboration with the blood bank and radiation oncology, we provide comprehensive care that includes accurate diagnosis, continuous monitoring of treatment response, and tailored therapy for each patient.
Since 2021, the Hematologic Malignancy Center has been at the forefront of adopting innovative therapies, offering CAR T-Cell treatment to patients with relapsed or refractory hematologic malignancies-particularly those unresponsive to standard chemotherapy. This proactive approach has contributed to significant improvements in patient survival outcomes.
Leading Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) Program
Since our first procedure in 1996, Samsung Medical Center performs approximately 220 hematopoietic stem cell transplants annually, ranked among the highest in Korea in terms of volume and success rates. We have developed standardized protocols for both conventional and high-complexity transplants. Our advanced facilities-including the stem cell transplantation ward, cell therapy unit, and one of Korea's top blood banks-support our experienced transplant team.
The transplant care team includes hematologic oncologists, transplant coordinators, advanced practices nurses, clinical pharmacists, and dietitians, all working together to support patients throughout the transplant process. We were the first in Korea to establish a dedicated Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Clinic, ensuring continuous post-transplant management and improving patients' quality of life.
