Advanced Breast Surgery Tailored to You

The Breast Surgery Division at Samsung Medical Center performs surgeries for more than 10% of newly diagnosed breast cancer patients in Korea each year.

Our team is committed to providing personalized care through evidence-based strategies and advanced surgical techniques. Treatment plans are carefully developed through multidisciplinary tumor board discussions, ensuring optimal sequencing and methods tailored to each patient's condition.

Precision Treatment

We prioritize precision in every surgical decision, offering techniques tailored to each patient's clinical and personal needs.

Our breast surgeons carefully select the most appropriate approach - from oncoplastic surgery preserving cosmetic outcomes to minimal invasive robot-assisted procedures. Axillary surgery is also personlized, balancing oncologic safety with functional preservation. In cases requiring total mastectomy, we work closely with our plastic surgery team to provide the most suitable breast reconstruction, ensuring both oncologic completeness and aesthetic restoration.

This patient-centered surgical strategy not only improves oncologic outcomes but also enhances quality of life.

Young Breast Cancer Clinic

The Breast Cancer Center provides integrative care for high-risk patients under 40 and those with pregnancy-related breast cancer, addressing challenges in diagnosis and fertility preservation.

Advancing Breast Cancer Care Through Clinical Research

The Breast Surgery Division at Samsung Medical Center actively participates in a wide range of domestic and international multicenter clinical studies. In several of these projects, we serve as the principal institution, leading collaborative research to advance the field of breast cancer surgery.

Our current research efforts focus on optimizing localization techniques for non-palpable lesions, evaluating the safety and efficacy of omitting or individualizing axillary surgery, and assessing the role of robot-assisted approaches in breast cancer treatment.

Through these efforts, we strive to generate new evidence that will refine surgical standards and contribute to more precise, less invasive, and patient-centered care.
