The Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at Samsung Medical Center delivers expert care to patients of all ages-from newborns to adults-performing over 1,000 cardiac surgeries annually. We offer a full spectrum of procedures, including valve surgery, CABG, aortic surgery, and reoperations, using minimally invasive and robotic-assisted cardiac surgery for faster recovery and improved outcomes.

Our dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Surgery team specializes in treating congenital heart defects with compassionate, multidisciplinary care. From neonatal to adolescent surgery, we tailor each treatment to the unique needs of every child.

With extensive clinical experience, and consistently excellent outcomes, our division leads the region in advanced mechanical circulatory support and minimally invasive arrhythmia surgery. We also operate a specialized pediatric cardiac surgery program in close collaboration with pediatric cardiology and obstetrics, enabling early fetal diagnosis and timely surgical intervention after birth. Advanced CABG Clinic

We perform the highest volume of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in Korea, with approximately 80% conducted off-pump (OPCAB). Our center consistently maintains an early postoperative mortality rate below 1%, reflecting our excellence in surgical outcomes.

Robotic and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery

We specialize in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, including robotic valve repair and totally endoscopic ablation for atrial fibrillation, ensuring less trauma, minimal scarring, and faster recovery with excellent clinical results.

LVAD & ECMO Center

As Korea's first dedicated ECMO and LVAD center, we provide both bridge-to-transplant and destination therapy for patients with advanced heart failure. Our center also leads clinical research and innovation in mechanical circulatory support.

Fetal Heart Team Clinic

This multidisciplinary clinic brings together obstetrics, pediatric cardiology, and cardiac surgery to diagnose and manage fetal heart disease. By coordinating care from prenatal diagnosis to postnatal intervention, we ensure seamless and timely treatment.

Scar Care Clinic After Cardiac Surgery

Our Scar Clinic offers specialized management for postoperative cardiac surgery scars. We provide individualized treatments to support optimal healing, reduce visible scarring, and promote patient confidence.

Cardiac Surgery Rehabilitation Program

Our comprehensive rehabilitation program supports patient recovery after cardiac surgery by improving long-term outcomes and reducing complications.

Initiated shortly after surgery, the program helps reduce complications, restore physical strength, and improve cardiovascular function through tailored exercises, respiratory therapy, and supervised activity. Beyond physical healing, it also supports emotional well-being by easing anxiety and depression often experienced after major surgery.
