Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology
Clinical and Research Leadership in Pediatric Infectious and Immune Disorders
Our team provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for children with infectious and immune-mediated diseases. We are dedicated to accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and individualized long-term management of complex conditions.
We offer specialized services for a broad range of infections-from community-acquired illnesses to opportunistic infections in immunocompromised hosts-and integrated care for autoimmune/inflammatory diseases. We also serve as a national center for inborn errors of immunity (IEI), integrating clinical care, diagnostics, and research.
Pediatric Infectious and Immune Expertise
We deliver expert, evidence-based care for pediatric infectious and immune-mediated diseases. Our team manages a wide range of infections-from common illnesses like pneumonia and urinary tract infections to complex cases such as FUO, lymphadenitis, and CNS infections.
We are experienced in evaluating children with recurrent or diagnostically challenging infections. We also provide care for immunocompromised children, including transplant recipients, those on immunosuppressive therapy, and critically ill patients-using protocol-based approaches and infection prevention strategies.
Immunization services are available for children with chronic illness or immunocompromised. We provide structured, multidisciplinary care for congenital infections, especially congenital CMV, from diagnosis to long-term follow-up.
Our IEI clinic offers immunologic and genetic evaluation and long-term care. We also manage autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases such as systemic JIA, pediatric SLE, and Behcet disease through coordinated, multidisciplinary approaches guided by immunologic expertise.
Specialized Expertise
Immunodeficiency Clinic
We lead a nationally recognized IEI clinic, offering genetic diagnosis, individualized treatment, and multidisciplinary care. Our clinic also plays a central role in the national IEI registry initiative.
Pediatric Rheumatology
We deliver multidisciplinary, patient-centered care for pediatric autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases, including systemic JIA, pediatric SLE, and Behcet disease, guided by immunologic expertise.
Infections in Immunocompromised Hosts
We provide expert, protocol-based care for infections in immunocompromised children, including transplant recipients and critically ill patients.
From Bench to Bedside Research
Our team advances knowledge through research in infectious diseases and immunology.
In the field of inborn errors of immunity (IEI), we serve as a central hub for the national IEI registry and contribute to understanding genetic causes, clinical phenotypes, and treatment strategies. We collaborate with investigators in basic and translational immunology to explore immune regulation, autoimmunity, and immune dysregulation.
In addition to immune-focused research, we also study pediatric infectious diseases. Our work includes clinical and epidemiological research on congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV), recurrent fever syndromes, and infections in immunocompromised hosts.
We aim to improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment protocols through research on pathogen detection, host immune responses, and infection prevention. Our division integrates bedside care with scientific discovery, ensuring that research findings translate directly into clinical practice.
Through participation in institutional and collaborative projects, we contribute to ongoing progress in pediatric infectious diseases and immunology.
