A Leading Provider of Breast Reconstruction, Congenital Anomalies, and Microsurgical Reconstruction
The Breast Reconstruction Clinic at Samsung Medical Center performs more than 400 individualized breast reconstructions each year for patients undergoing mastectomy for breast cancer, through a multidisciplinary collaborative approach with the Departments of Breast Surgery, Hematology and Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, and Pathology.
Various methods are available using autologous tissue or implants. We provide world-class treatment using safe and aesthetic breast implants and deep inferior epigastric artery perforator free flaps, which preserve abdominal muscles by utilizing only abdominal skin and fat.
We also operate Korea's biggest congenital malformation and ear deformity clinic, performing more than 120 ear reconstructions annually for patients with microtia and acquired ear deformities.
In addition, we perform more than 150 reconstructive surgeries annually using free flaps for defects and deformities of the breast-torso, foot-lower extremity, and head and neck. Technically demanding one-stage reanimation surgery for facial nerve paralysis, using latissimus dorsi muscle, is also frequently performed in our department.
