Pulmonary hypertension is a serious condition characterized by elevated pressure in the pulmonary arteries, distinctly different from systemic hypertension. It can be caused by a wide range of underlying cardiac, pulmonary, or vascular
diseases, each requiring a different therapeutic approach and carrying a different prognosis.

Due to the complexity of its causes and symptoms, pulmonary hypertension is often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed, and many patients receive inappropriate treatment. Accurate diagnosis requires deep clinical expertise and extensive experience in differentiating pulmonary hypertension from other conditions.

Our team brings together specialists in cardiology, pulmonary medicine, cardiovascular surgery, pediatric cardiology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, genetics, and vascular interventions to provide an integrated and expert-driven approach to pulmonary hypertension diagnosis and care.

Clinical Excellence Recognized at the National Level

Samsung Medical Center was the first in Korea to successfully perform percutaneous pulmonary artery intervention for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) in 2015. Since then, we have continued to advance hybrid treatment strategies for complex CTEPH cases, establishing ourselves as a national leader in procedural volume and outcomes.
