Specialized Care for Complex Spine Conditions

The Spine Center delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care through a coordinated team approach, offering the most advanced and integrated treatment options for a full spectrum of spinal disorders. Our multidisciplinary team includes nationally renowned experts in orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, pain medicine, neurology, radiology, radiation oncology, chemotherapy, and rehabilitation medicine. Together, we design personalized treatment plans for patients with spinal deformities, tumors, trauma-related injuries, infections, and degenerative diseases involving the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine.

Spine Tumor Clinic

The SMC Spine Center was the first in Korea to establish a multidisciplinary Spinal Tumor Board, enabling a comprehensive approach to the management of all types of spinal tumors. Effective treatment begins with accurate diagnosis, and we are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies, including:
- PET (Positron Emission Tomography) with MRI/CT Fusion
- MRI & CT Scans
- CT or Ultrasound-Guided Biopsy
- Whole-Body Bone Scan
- Spinal Angiography

Our team includes spine tumor radiologists who perform advanced diagnostic and interventional procedures. For complex surgical cases, we offer highly specialized operations such as total en-bloc spondylectomy, total sacrectomy, and complex spinal reconstructions, performed by surgeons with extensive experience in tumor-related spine surgery. In collaboration with radiation oncologists, we also provide cutting-edge radiotherapy options-including Proton Therapy, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Tomotherapy-to ensure precise, targeted treatment.

Spine Deformity Clinic

The SMC Spine Deformity Clinic is a national leader in the treatment of spinal deformities such as scoliosis and kyphosis-whether congenital, idiopathic, neuromuscular, or degenerative in origin. Each year, we treat over 100 pediatric patients with scoliosis and perform the highest number of surgeries in Korea for degenerative scoliosis and flat back syndrome.

Our surgical strategies are tailored to each patient and incorporate a wide range of advanced techniques, including:
- Lateral Interbody Fusion with Anterior Column Realignment (ACR)
- Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy (PSO)
- Smith-Petersen Osteotomy (SPO)
- Posterior Vertebral Column Resection (PVCR)
