A paper written by Clinical Instructor Na Soo Jin (Lead author) from the Department of Intensive Care Medicine and Prof. Yang Jeong Hoon (Corresponding author) from the Department of Intensive Care Medicine/Department of Cardiology was published in the on-line edition of 『Journal of the American College of Cardiology (IF 17.759)』, the most prestigious journal in the field of cardiology.
This study, conducted on 2,431 patients who were admitted to the Cardiology ICU between 2012 and 2015, showed that the ICU mortality rate decreased by 47% after specialists were deployed in the ICU and multi-disciplinary treatment started from 2013. It was the first ever study conducted to show the necessity of introducing a specialist system to the ICU for cardiovascular patients and prompt consultation among specialists having diverse backgrounds.
