Liver transplantation team of Samsung Medical Center that gave hope to Mongolia, now Mongolian postage stamp

 

The scene of the Mongolian training program activity of the liver transplantation team of Samsung Medical Center is shown on the Mongolian postage stamp.

According to the Mongolian post office, the surgery scene of the medical staff of Samsung Medical Center is shown on 700 tugrik postage stamp that is issued to commemorate the cancer treatment development of Mongolia and promote the national cancer conquest program.

 

The picture on the postage stamp was taken locally to commemorate the very first liver transplant surgery performed by Jae Won Joh, M.D. Ph.D and Jong Man Kim, M.D. Ph.D, Division of Transplantation Surgery, and Justine Sang Wook Ko, M.D. Ph.D, Department of Anesthesiology and Pain medicine[i] of Samsung Medical Center, at National Cancer Center of Mongolia[ii] as “I Love Liver” which was a social contribution activity done in Mongolia by support of the Kazakhstan corporate of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

 

This postage stamp is sold with the postage stamp information that states Mongolian medical development and cancer conquest history in detail. The corresponding information contains the names of professors of the liver transplantation team of Samsung Medical Center, detailed explanation of the surgery picture, and the full meaning of the first successful liver transplant surgery.

 

Samsung Medical Center had MOU on the liver transplant surgery-related medical cooperation with National Cancer Center of Mongolia in January 2017, and since September 2017, the medical staff of National Cancer Center has been trained at Samsung Medical Center and Mongolian patients have received liver transplant surgeries locally through social contribution projects with the Central Asia corporate of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.

 

18 Mongolian medical staff members have received the medical training at Samsung Medical Center so far. On January 25th this year, the liver transplantation medical staff of Samsung Medical Center visited National Cancer Center of Mongolia and did the liver transplant surgery successfully for the first time ever at National Cancer Center of Mongolia so that there was a very good response in Mongolia.
