Completing a Long Journey of Medical volunteer works in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam, for three years
Samsung Medical Center performed medical volunteer works by visiting Thai Nguyen in Vietnam from October 28 to November 3.
The medical volunteer work team was composed of 23 persons and treated 978 local people at A hospital in Thai Nguyen for seven days, and among them, the team performed surgeries on 29 patients with microtia, polydactyly, cleft lip and palate, wound reconstruction, etc.
Especially, the surgery for microtia was performed for the very first time at A hospital in Thai Nguyen.
Also, Dr. Kap Sung Oh (professor of Plastic Surgery Department) held a seminar on “reconstruction of microtia” for local medical staff, and Dr. Jai Kyung Pyon (professor of Plastic Surgery Department) held a seminar on “biofilm” for local medical staff. In addition, Dr. Hee Yoon (professor of Emergency Medicine Department), Dr. Soo Hyun Park (fellow) and Dr. Gabyong Jeong (resident) held “ultrasound training for emergency diagnosis, and it was highly favored by the local medical staff.
Samsung Medical Center treated about 3000 local people of Thai Nguyen for free and provided a total of 67 patients with new lives through plastic surgeries for cleft lip and palate, microtia, syndactyly and polydactyly, burn injury, wound reconstruction, etc.
