The Samsung Medical Center is a tertiary hospital. In 2004, our extracorporeal membrane oxygenator (ECMO) team performed the first ECMO for non-post cardiotomyas first time in Korea. The ECMO team manages 100~150 ECMO patients per year. We perform extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) for both in and out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. Our ECMO program iscomprised of cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and perfusionists.
We kindly invite physicians, nurses, perfusionists who want to develop understanding and skills of ECMO.
SMC ECMO Training Course will provide an opportunity to understand the basics of ECMO as well as to learn the essential technical tips for successful management ECMO through comprehensive lectures, hands-on, and simulation.
Our course includes basic knowledge of ECMO, physiology of ECMO and patient on ECMO, general management,
and decision making. We offer clinical lecture sessions, wet labs, simulation session and hands-on
sessions.
Our course is featured by ECMO rounds with SMC ECMO team every morning for three days.
The round will be modified for the participants in English speaking environment
and in-depth discussion. Participants will learn many aspects of management of ECMO patients
according to their role in the hospital.
