Overview
SMC POTENTIAL LEADERS In Spinal Surgery Program is a one- to four-week program that provides surgical training in all kind of adult and pediatric spinal problems, including cervical and lumbar degenerative diseases, deformity, trauma and tumors. This program will provide the surgical experience as well as various decision-making disciplines. In addition, attendee can participate in spine conference which is held twice a month and spine tumor board which is held every week. This program is open to potential leaders in spinal surgery field of any countries irrespective of experience of the surgeon.
About SMC Spine Center
The Spine Center of Samsung Medical Center offers comprehensive management of various spinal problems. Our center provides multi-departmental cares which are supported by orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, pain physicians, radiologists and neurologist. Per year, <8500 new patients visit our center and <1000 spine surgeries are performed by 6 attending surgeons (3 orthopedic surgeons and 3 neurosurgeons). SMC spine center performs the entire range of spinal surgery, covering all pathologies from trauma to deformity and tumor.
Learning Objectives
- To understand the treatment options for common cervical and lumbar degenerative diseases
- To learn the evaluation methods, treatment options and surgical techniques for scoliosis
- To learn the classification and treatment options for malignant spinal tumors
- To discuss the surgical indications for a various kind of spinal diseases
- To learn the microscopic surgical techniques for cord tumors

Qualification
Spine surgeon (orthopedic surgeon or neurosurgeon)
When to apply

- Minimum 2 months prior to training planned
Registration Fee
- 1 week course : $1000 USD per participant
- It includes tuition, accommodation (shared / SMC guest house), and meals (staff cafeteria)
